Jarvis was raised in We’koqma’q, Unama’ki, attended an Indian Day School from 1985 to 1993, and graduated from a Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey school. He holds degrees from Saint Mary’s University (cum laude), Dalhousie Law School, and is a non-practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society.

He has spoken and presented for many years on Mi’kmaw history and culture, general Indigenous subjects, Peace and Friendship, and Truth and Reconciliation – as well as running – to numerous audiences. These include grade schools and post-secondary institutions, health regulatory organizations, companies, churches, youth groups, and to regional and national media outlets. In 2022, he received the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal.

Moreover, he has performed as Masters of Ceremonies. He is also the host and lead writer of the show Mi’kma’ki, which explores and examines various Mi’kmaw topics in Nova Scotia.

Jarvis is available for speaking engagements and presentations.

He is also an avid and passionate runner, completing several marathons to date, and volunteers as a board director for the Blue Nose Marathon. He lives in Kjipuktuk/Dartmouth with his wife Kerrianne and their Shelties Looloo and Eevee.
